Recycling a huge desk into rolling components/work surfaces

image Here is a huge desk that I was using for my jewelry work. Apart from the fact that it was way too space consuming, it was also very wobbly due to its (too) high legs.
As I bought a real jewelry workdesk, I realized that I would be missing the storage space that the huge desk was offering.
So, I took the huge desk apart, discarded the top and the legs, screwed a top, a handle on each side and rubber casters to the drawers components, and voilà!

Here besides an Ikea drawer component that got the same treatment.
When I need a small work surface, I just pull it from under my work table!

The creating and fabrication of an aquamarine pendant

Here are the elements that I wanted to put together as a pendant: a large ( 23.63 carats), drop shaped, greenish blue aquamarine cabochon, translucent with inclusions and a great depth, and the top part of a brass military collar badge (that says 'ubique', meaning 'everywhere').

This is a photoshop rendering that I made. Of course the final result will be different, as the proportions will be different, and as the bezel will hide some of the outline of the stone. Something I should have taken into account at this stage.

Here is the pendant ready to receive the stone.

Here is the finished pendant

Here is the back of the pendant
It is on sale here

John (Fire) Lame Deer:  “Before our white brothers arrived to make us civilized men, we didn’t have any kind of prison. Because of this, we had no delinquents. Without a prison, there can be no delinquents. We had no locks nor keys and therefore among us there were no thieves. When someone was so poor that he couldn’t afford a horse, a tent or a blanket, he would, in that case, receive it all as a gift. We were too uncivilized to give great importance to private property. We didn’t know any kind of money and consequently, the value of a human being was not determined by his wealth. We had no written laws laid down, no lawyers, no politicians, therefore we were not able to cheat and swindle one another. We were really in bad shape before the white men arrived and I don’t know how to explain how we were able to manage without these fundamental things that (so they tell us) are so necessary for a civilized society.” — John (Fire) Lame Deer
